mudslide

Mud packed on top

wet, suffocating my spirit.

I now am forced to look both ways –

You stole my identical pair

Of eyes.

Time spent holding my breath

waiting for clean oxygen to bring

new life.

Musty, decaying union

You stole my strong set

Of arms.

This unstable ground

weakens me,

Dismayed and drowning

on dry dirt.

You stole my stable pair

Of knees.

Sky falls down, but

the mountains commitment to the valley

stays intact.

Hands held across green life.

You stole this body,

I’m keeping my sound

mind.
